Io e... Stranger Things. / I and... Stranger Things.

Month ago, I had a girl who was passionate about TV series so she had a subscription to Netflix
At that time, the Internet was full of reviews, quotes and images devoted to a series called Stranger Things.

A series to which she loves all the culture of the '80s such as cinema, music, etc. The web was so invaded by this "Stranger Things-Mania" that even my girlfriend advised me to take a look.
Unfortunately, I can not follow the TV series, because the idea of watching me one hundred stakes and thirty seasons to see "how does it end" I find it somewhat nauseating and then I have always avoided them.
Lucky that Stranger Things is made of 8 episodes and, being new, is up to now the only season (the second should come to Halloween this year).
8 Episodes of 40 minutes (approx.) One. It can be done!!!
Then I look at her. The more I look at it and the more I work to follow it, as if it were a class task.
In the end ... I got bored !!!
Boredom is not because of the slowness of the narrative (which can stay up to a point), but from the course of events: too many quotes and too many scenes that they already know.

Be clear: I knew this is a series that takes many cult films (primarily ET), but the problem is "the wow effect" (let me quote Jurassic World) that I did not have. I seemed to see a puzzle of things already seen together with the aim of climbing the nostalgia of those years who lived and took "new ones".
So the "new", when in the future will watch a cult movie like Poltergeist, can say: "Hey! But that scene I saw in Stranger Things!" Ignoring who the original is.
I'm not against homage and quotes,

I'm "pro" when it comes to creating and telling something new.
Let me give an example: San Junipero from Black Mirror.
Here, in my opinion this episode eats breakfast / lunch / snack / dinner the entire Stranger Things. Because the authors of San Junipero have taken many quotations from the '80s / 90s to tell something new.
Something that eventually makes you want to say WOW !!!
Here, this Stranger Things had to do with me, and I did not succeed.

This does not mean it is a bad series, indeed it is really done. But the good actors (there's Winona Ryder to say ..), the good director, the good technical side for me does not save a series he knows about "remake of things Anni'80".

Critics and the people of the web have sworn it and I'm probably among the few that I think so.
But I believe that in 2017, viewers need news and not "things that have already been seen". Otherwise it is useless to complain about the long line of remake / reboot we find at the cinema ...

«Watch Stranger Things! It's a great series! Then there are only 8 episodes, for you there will be no problems ...»
«Okay! I'll try to look at her!»
